THE NUCLEAR SCREECH
This reference to Edward Munch’s “Scream” is about the feeling of helplessness of living in a world fueled by the threat of a nuclear holocaust. Since 2022 this type of danger has been omnipresent in media. Many intellectuals, such as Noam Chomsky, have talked about it for quite some time. I noticed how the discourse and possibility of all-out war in Europe affected me, and the ordinary people surrounding me.
In doing a contemporary version of the painting I drew inspiration from the visual language of neurographic art. I am expressing the fear and anxiety caused by the cataclysmic atmosphere created over the past few years, due to events unfolding in the world. It is about the anguish that comes from experiencing despair and powerlessness over the events that greatly influence our individual lives. I call this style neuroexpressionism.

With art, I cast a light on the shadow parts of ourselves, and our society, in the hope of sparking a desire for introspection, and an authentic search for who we are deep inside. By acknowledging and accepting the pain we all carry as the root cause of all suffering within ourselves, and in others, we can become a greater version of ourselves. Only this way can we bring a new era of harmony within and outside ourselves.
